Determing Reats/New Programs

I am brand new to using the schedule direct data. I am clueless how to configure the data I get other then choosing channels.

XMLTVGUI V3 worked great. I downloaded from Schedule Direct, but every single program has an empty previously shown element (<previously-shown/>). There were also no new attribute. to be found.

I want to flag new shows in my application, but I see no way to detect new shows vs Nth showings. I know ZapToIt (the source) has that data available.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
